Plans, apply and verify
Every change is a plan first, listed operation by operation before it runs.
The plan card
A plan card lists each change, such as Add an effect or Keyframe a property, with its target and values. When a plan waits for you, it shows Apply and Discard. Discarding changes nothing.
Ask before applying
By default extynt applies changes you can undo straight away, with Undo on the card. Risky changes wait for you: deleting something extynt did not create in that same request, rendering, importing, exporting a MOGRT, replacing footage, and any plan whose undo would not be scoped to what it changed. Change this under Settings › Approvals:
- Only for risky changes is the default.
- Before every change makes every change wait for Apply.
- Never ask applies every change as soon as it is proposed.
This setting covers the panel. Claude, Codex and other MCP clients approve their own plans, usually in the same call that proposes them. Your client’s own tool permissions decide whether it asks you first. Your client can take a plan back with ae_undo_plan.
Verdicts
After applying, extynt reads the project again and ends the card with one line:
| Verdict | What it means |
|---|---|
| Done · checked | Every change was applied and read back from After Effects. |
| Done · 2 of 14 couldn't be checked | Everything was applied, but After Effects cannot report some values back. Check those in the timeline. |
| Didn't apply | It stopped before touching the project. Nothing changed. |
| Partly applied | It stopped part-way. Undo takes back what was made. |
| Undone | The plan was taken back and the project matches how it was before. |
Open the checklist under the line, for example 5 changes ✓, to see each change marked Checked, Not checked or Failed. A change whose value came back different from the plan is marked Failed, with the value After Effects holds.
When a check is not possible
If a plan includes changes extynt cannot confirm on your After Effects build, the card says so before anything runs, and the button reads Apply (2 unchecked). Pressing it applies the plan, and those changes show as Not checked.
When After Effects says no
If After Effects rejects a change, the receipt marks it Failed and says what happened, and the plan can be amended and run again. Undo takes back what was applied.
Finding plans later
Open the status sheet in the panel. Waiting for you lists plans that need Apply or Discard, and Changes lists recent changes, each with its own Undo.
